Kids love the Reading Tower

One of the most loved structures in our Children's Services department is our Reading Tower. Big kids between the ages of 7 and 12 use this two story structure to read, relax, and (sometimes) do homework.

As Mitch demonstrates, a wide variety of reading styles are used in the Reading Tower.

Drawing With Objects

Click here to find this book in the Library Catalog! Drawing With Objects by Godeleine De Rosamel teaches you how to trace a simple object and turn it into a cool picture. This is the snail that I drew with a little help from a tape dispenser. The book includes instructions for drawing with bottles, tools, spoons, and more. Check out this or other titles in the Drawing is Easy series for great drawing ideas.

Saturday Fun at the Library!

There is always something fun to do at the ACPL!

This Saturday you can make a hand or mitten bookmark, find books to check out, hang out and read in the Reading Tower, color in the coloring room, check on the fish, use a computer in the Computer Center and more!

See you Saturday at the Library!

Fish, Beautiful Fish!

Since the Main Library reopened in its beautiful new facilities nearly a year ago, many people have come to see our aquariums. The Children's Services department has three, large, salt water aquariums. Each aquarium has very colorful fish.

One of our tanks is a "reef tank" which means it contains all manner of living creatures including "live rock" or coral.

And your smiling face!

Where Did the Animals Go?

What happens to the animals when winter comes? Where do they go? The preschoolers who came to the storytime today at the Main Library had a chance to find out!

Preschool Storytime for ages 3 to 6 begins each Wednesday at 10:30. We hope you'll come next week to join the fun!
