Leapfrog Tag Books

Library customers who own a Leapfrog Tag Reading System will be happy to know that they can now checkout Interactive Tag Books. Tag Books look like and can be read just like other books, but they can also be used with a Tag Pen, which can "read" the words and interact with different elements in the books.

Other Leapfrog items available for checkout at Allen County Public Library locations include:

• Leapster games for Leapster and Leapster2 handheld devices
• Leapfrog DVDs
• LeapPad Backpacks, which include a LeapPad Unit and 2 cartridges/books
• Leappad Kits, which contain 1 cartridge and book for use with a LeapPad Unit
  

Interactive Books -- New Software in Children's Services

Looking for a fun new way to motivate your kids to read? Check out some Graphic Library Interactive Books from Children's Services! These new software titles are geared toward upper elementary-age children -- grades 3 and up -- and are compatible with both MacIntosh and Windows operating systems. Set in a graphic novel format, kids can listen to and read along with these books at their own pace on the computer, moving forward and backward through the stories as they wish. At the end of each story are links to age-appropriate websites and lists of other resources kids may be interested in exploring.

Entertainment Software Rating Board

Are you planning to purchase a computer game or video game soon? You might like to check it out at the library first. Or click here to visit the Entertainment Software Rating Board website. When you do a search for the game, you will find a rating and the reasons for the rating, as well as a list of the platforms for which the game is available. There is a lot of additional good information there for gamers and their families.

Looking for some good alphabet books to share with your child or classroom? Check out our recently updated Alphabet booklist.
