It's Time for Another Stuffed Animal Sleepover at the Library!

Kids are invited to bring their stuffed animals to the Main Library in downtown Fort Wayne on Friday evening, July 22. Wear your pajamas! We'll have a bedtime storytime, and then we'll tuck your stuffed friends into bed for the night. Stuffed friends may be picked up anytime on Saturday during library hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., along with a memory book of their overnight adventures.

Mischief -- Stuffed Animal Style
Have you ever wondered what your stuffed animals do at night? After storytime yesterday evening, we tucked all of our friends into bed for the night. They didn't do much sleeping, but it does appear that they had plenty of fun! Check out the photos of last night's Stuffed Animal Sleepover!

Happy Anniversary 900 Library Plaza!
Today is the fourth anniversary of the Grand Opening of the beautiful new library at 900 Library Plaza! Happy Anniversary to all of us!It has been a wonderful four years of fun here. Stuffed Animal Sleepover Photos
We sure had a rip-roaring time with our stuffed animal guests at our Stuffed Animal Sleepover! After story time, we tucked the animals into bed for the night, but we caught them out of bed on several occasions! On Saturday, all of our stuffed guests went home with their families, with a memory book and friendship bracelet to share.

A Soup Opera
Jim Gill was at the ACPL last weekend to present 4 concerts to children & their families. It was SO MUCH FUN!At the concerts, Jim shared his new book A Soup Opera. In this photo, Jim is showing us how to sing the line "I can't eat the soup!" with feeling.

Project WET at Main Library
We had tons of fun AND we learned so much about water and why it's important to keep it clean at our Project WET events at the Main Library. Many thanks to our pirate guest, Captain Black Sam Read, and to the Allen County Partnership for Water Quality, for providing such a great program!

Turtles & Snakes, Oh My!

Natalie, a naturalist from Fox Island visited the library on Saturday with her reptilian friends. The kids enjoyed meeting the turtles and trying on snakeskin. Check out more photos here.

Recycled Art Creations

This Saturday from 2 to 5pm you can drop in at the Main Library to create a piece of recycled art. We will have a lot of great "trash" available for you to use. The art pictured here was made from an old white tablecloth & VHS tape.
Check out photos from other recycled art programs for ideas.
The Allen County Solid Waste Management District is sponsoring a Trash to Treasure Art Contest at the Main Library on April 17th. Plan to come back that day and enter your work. To register, visit the ACSWMD website.

Day of the Dead 2009
Over four hundred people visited Children's Services to enjoy Day of the Dead activities and share memories of loved ones. We took a LOT of pictures of dancing skeletons!
