Check out this snowflake that I made at Make-a-Flake. You can make one (or more) of your own. Once you get the hang of the scissors, you can make some pretty amazing snowflakes.

It's Time for Snow!

As part of the Downtown Fort Wayne HolidayFest, the Children's Services department will be offering a special "It's Time for Snow!" program tonite from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.

Here's what we have planned:
  • Create a night-time snow scene using chalk
  • Color a snow-related coloring sheet
  • Make a snowflake on the computer
  • Fold and cut out your own unique snowflake
  • Make a packing peanut snowman
  • Check out a book all about snow
  • Make some (pretend) snow of your very own

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! I hope that you have found some good Halloween reads this year. One of my favorites is Pumpkin Eye by Denise Fleming. I love Denise Fleming's books. Her artwork is fantastic and it is all made from paper pulp! Check out more of her books here.

Some slightly scary books that I have enjoyed this year are Michael Rex's Goodnight Goon & The Runaway Mummy. These hilarious parodies of Margaret Wise Brown's books are sure to get a laugh out of anyone familiar with the originals.

Mother's Day Flower Pot

Join Us Tomorrow for a Craft

Flowers that last forever - created with love! And just in time for Mother's Day! Children of all ages are encouraged to stop by the library Saturday May 9 anytime between 1:00 and 6:00 pm to create a gift of love for that very special someone.

No pre-registration is required. We will have art stations set up in the Children's Department.

This craft is designed to meet Indiana Academic Standards.

Happy Easter

Today is Easter Day & the ACPL is closed. The Main Library will re-open tomorrow at 9am and branch libraries will re-open tomorrow at 10am.





There have been a lot of fun Easter books published this year, such as Bob Boyle's Wubbzy's Egg-cellent Easter which is a lift-the-flap book! Remember, the Library receives new books almost every day, you are sure to find something that you will enjoy on our new book shelves.

Today is Marin Luther King Jr. Day!
Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most respected and influential leaders of the civil rights movement during the 1950s and 1960s. King inspired many Americans to stand up for fairness and equality among citizens, no matter the color of their skin. Today the memory of Martin Luther King and his passion for what he believed lives on across our nation.
